Paterson Great Falls NHP

A Revolutionary Idea

Cotton and silk fabrics; steam locomotives; continuous rolls of paper; airplane engines. What do these things have in common? They were all manufactured in the same place - Paterson, NJ.

In 1792, Paterson was established, America's first planned industrial city, centered around the Great Falls of the Passaic River. From humble mills rose industries that changed the face of the United States.

A nice hidden gem in Northern New Jersey. There had been lot's of rain here so the falls were really flowing. This is one of the newest parks and there is no Park service Visitor Center yet but a stop at the Paterson Museum sums up the history here nicely. A lunch at Liddys across the street is well worth it.
